Top gospel acts ready to minister at Praise in the Park

In celebration of International Credit Union Day, a free gospel concert, Praise in the Park, hosted by the Credit Unions of Jamaica, will take place on Thursday, October 16 at Emancipation Park in New Kingston.

Award-winning gospel acts Levy’s Heritage, Johnmark Wiggan, Petra Kaye, Genesis Praise Squad, and Carey Sayles are among the performers tasked to deliver worship and praise.

Katrina Grant D’Aguilar, group marketing and communications manager for Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League Ltd, explained the concept behind the staging.

“The event — now in its third year — is held annually to celebrate International Credit Union Day, which is observed worldwide on the third Thursday of October,” Grant D’Aguilar told the Jamaica Observer on Friday.

She continued: “Praise in the Park...serves as a thanksgiving event, a way for the Credit Unions of Jamaica to show appreciation to our members, non-members, and the wider community for their continued support and trust in the movement. It’s also a joyful expression of the credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People’, reminding everyone that when communities come together in faith and purpose, great things happen...”

Grant D’Aguilar said each year the concert continues to grow in reach and impact. This year’s line-up features some of Jamaica’s most-celebrated gospel artistes... Patrons can expect dynamic live band performances and uplifting musical ministry, said organisers.

“Beyond the concert, there will be moments of worship, community spirit, and special outreach initiatives such as a soup kitchen for our elders, sponsored by CUNA Caribbean. The event will also feature live streaming through Sora Media on the Credit Unions of Jamaica YouTube channel and will be carried by Caribbean Gospel TV and PBCJ [Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica. We will also be sharing highlights on all our social media platforms,” Grant D’Aguilar said.

Oshin Levy, a member of the award-winning gospel trio Levy’s Heritage, said attendees are in for a treat.

“Patrons can expect a spirit-filled ministry from Levy’s Heritage at Praise in the Park. We’ll be singing some of our known songs for patrons to sing along to, as well as sharing our new tracks. This is the pre-celebration before our launch event on November 1 to commemorate our 20th anniversary,” said Levy.
