KINGSTON, Jamaica—Nine years after it was first released, No Lie by Sean Paul and Dua Lipa continues to make an impact in the United Kingdom.
On Friday, October 17, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) issued a certification for 3x platinum, commemorating sales and streaming equivalent of 1.8 million units.
The song, which was released in November 2016, was the lead single from Sean Paul’s EP Mad Love, The Prequel, released by Island Records in 2018. No Lie was also included on Dua Lipa's Complete Edition 2018 deluxe album.
Produced by British producer Sermstyle and Pip Kembo, No Lie was written by Sean Paul, Andrew Jackson, Emily Warren and Sermstyle.
The song’s official video, which was directed by Tim Nackashi and released in January 2017, was shot at West London’s Sunbeam Studios. It has racked up more than 1.4 billion views to date.
No Lie was a commercial success in several European countries. It did not chart in the United States.
It peaked at #10 in the United Kingdom, and made the Top 20 in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Scotland and Slovakia.
It has also achieved multiple sales certifications, including Diamond in Brazil and France, 4x platinum in Italy, 3x platinum in Poland, 3x gold in Germany, gold in Denmark, 2x platinum in New Zealand, and platinum in Spain, Austria, Canada, Netherlands and Poland.
