Tad’s International eyes third Grammy nomination with ‘Just Giving Thanks’

Tad Dawkins Senior, principal of Tad’s International Record, is counting on Just Giving Thanks by Glen Washington to give the label its third Grammy-nominated album.

It is among 73 albums being considered for Best Reggae Album at the 2026 awards. The provisional list was released on October 3 by the Recording Academy, organisers of the Grammy Awards.

Albums by Cham (Sherlock), Vybz Kartel (Heart & Soul) and Mr Vegas (Ghetto Reggae) are also in the running for the final cut which will be announced on November 7. Brand New Me by Gregory Isaacs in 2010, and Reggae Forever by Etana in 2019 are the albums distributed by Tad’s International Record that have been nominated for Best Reggae Album.

In an interview with Observer Online in April, Dawkins said he expected great things from Just Giving Thanks, which was released in May.

“Glen Washington is a reggae gem. A diamond to be exact. His sound is known and loved, and his fan base is always eager to get new music from him,” Dawkins stated.

“In fact, we are in the process of recording his second studio album which will be released in the summer of 2027,” he continued.

Produced by Tad Dawkins Junior, Just Giving Thanks contains songs such as Chant Them Down, Oh, To Be Like Him and Loving You Forever.

The Clarendon-born Washington started his career in the early 1970s as a drummer with bands like The Mighty Titans in Kingston. His breakthrough as a singer came in 1996 with Brother to Brother, an album produced by the legendary Clement Dodd.
